Annual Networking Day
Friday, 9th December at Medway Golf Club

Morning Industry Briefings                              Golf in the Afternoon
Hi Juanita,

6 weeks to go until our Annual Networking & Golf Day on Friday, 9th December 2022!!

This event will consist of a morning session of networking and industry briefings, set amongst an amazing backdrop with morning tea and lunch. For the golfers, and also the non-golfers amongst us, there will be an Ambrose golf competition in the afternoon followed by a BBQ and drinks right after the golf.

These are two separate sessions. If you are time poor or not a golfer, you can come along to the morning session only from 8.30 am to 1pm. This session will include coffee and teas on arrival, prior to the main speakers, a mid morning catered break and a full buffet lunch. All great opportunities to mingle and network!

For the golfers (or non golfers!) who would like to continue on networking, the afternoon is also available to continue meeting others in the Defence Industry. This event was a huge success last year and we would encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited.

Medway Golf Club is located only 20mins west of Melbourne CBD and free parking is available.

Also, if you are interested in promoting your business, there are various sponsorship options for the day. These range from displaying your name and logo to speaking slots informing members of the capabilities of your organisation.

These sponsorships packages are very reasonably priced and are a cost effective way of promoting your business.

Please contact us today if you are interested in learning more. Email at
info@australiandefencealliance.org.au or phone (03) 8658 5707.

This will be an enjoyable and informative day with the opportunity to meet others in Defence and we look forward to seeing you there.

Government Delivers 2022-23 Budget for Defence

On the 25th October, Commonwealth Treasurer Jim Chalmers tabled the Albanese government’s 2022-23 federal budget.  Defence spending will increase 8 per cent over the financial year, rising above 2 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) over the forward estimates.

In addition to the $270 billion investment in Defence’s capability over the decade to 2029-30 the Government will provide $37.3 million over 3 years from 2022–23 to the Department of Defence to support the development of defence and fuel manufacturing industries. Funding includes:

  • $32.2 million over 3 years from 2022–23 to support the construction of the North Queensland Simulation Park in Townsville, Queensland to support the development and growth of defence industry in the region.
  • $5.1 million over 3 years from 2022–23 to support the development of sovereign capacity in renewable fuel manufacturing, particularly for the Australian Defence Force.

However, the 2022-23 budget excludes new spending on key capabilities for the Australian Defence Force (ADF), with the government awaiting the recommendations of the Defence Strategic Review, due in March 2023.

Defence Appoints Adecco Australia to Deliver ADF Targets

In the latest move to scale up the Australian Defence Force (ADF), the Australian Government has selected Adecco Australia as Defence’s new recruitment partner.

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel, Matt Keogh said given the strategic circumstances we now face, the recruitment and retention of personnel has never been more important.

“Our people are the most important capability for the defence of Australia, and our national interests. It’s exciting to be working with a new recruitment partner to ensure we’re engaging with the very best people our nation has to offer,” said Minister Keogh.

With Defence looking to increase their employment footprint by 18,500 people by 2039-40, the time to inspire the workforce of the future is now.
