Office of Defence Industry Support Open For Business

Hi there,

On the 26th November 2021, the Minister for Defence Industry, Melissa Price,  launched The Office of Defence Industry Support (ODIS), to replace the Centre for Defence Industry Capability.

The Office of Defence Industry Support (ODIS) is the one-stop-shop for Defence industry support and guidance.

ODIS will provide a seamless experience for business to engage with Defence. It will be the trusted link for Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) looking to enter or expand their footprint in the Defence industry.

The core function of ODIS, through its offices around Australia, is to provide advisory, guidance and mentoring services to SMEs.

ODIS will also work with State and Territory agencies, industry associations and Defence business partners, to position the Defence industry to deliver capability that equips and sustains the Australian Defence Force.

We will have Tony Fraser and Jane Wood from CASG flying down from Canberra to speak at our annual networking event next Friday about ODIS and what this means for SMEs.

Read the full press release and visit the website for more information.

Australian Defence Export Office App Launched

On the 29th November the Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon. Melissa Price MP, launched the new Australian Defence Export Office (ADEO) App. The largest section of the App is the Australian Defence Sales Catalogue (the Catalogue). It is available for mobile phone (IOS and Android) and Web.  A link to the minister’s media release is HERE, note this media release also refers to defence export grants.

The App provides Australian defence industry exporters a link to the services of the ADEO, which includes Australian Military Sales (AMS) who administer the Catalogue and now the App, Team Defence Australia (TDA) who support companies attending international trade shows and Policy & Engagement (P&E) who advocate for companies seeking to export their products and services.

The App will include all 214 Australian companies currently featured in the 2021 Catalogue - and whom form part of this email correspondence. Like the hard copy booklet, the App is an exporting document for Australian defence industry exporters and contains valuable information and links to government services available to exporters including Austrade, Defence Export Controls, Export Finance Australia, Centre for Defence Industry Capability and Defence Innovation Hub.
The App is available to the public as follows:

  • WEB APP - You can access the web-based App via this link Web App Link on your laptop or other device;
  • MOBILE PHONE APP – downloadable via your phone’s App Store. Wondering what to type in? Here is a screen shot of the App to make it easier to locate.

All content is at ‘unclassified’ level – just like the booklet. Every individual who downloads the App will be required to register via a valid email address. This is a cyber-security requirement.
This App will be promoted across industry, hence we have copied Australian industry organisations into this email as well as Austrade and Export Finance Australia (for them to distribute to partners globally), state government representatives and advocates and internal stakeholders across Defence. Over time we anticipate defence industry players in like-minded countries and R&D players may also download this App with a view to reaching out to Australian defence industry as we increase our market share on the world stage.

Companies
– when the App is updated for 2022, those companies featured will be granted ‘company admin’ access in order to:

  1. Make simple updates to your featured page (eg. wording changes, image updates). These changes will go live once cleared by ADEO staff - you will not be able to change your featured product or service, but you can withdraw it if needed.
  2. Access market analytics for your featured page (eg. how many hits to your page, how many clicks through to your company website, where across the world the hits are coming from - no individual data will be available of course for privacy reasons).

2022 Catalogue Application Process Update
The ADEO is currently assessing submissions for the 2022 Catalogue. Companies who are successful will be notified by the end of January 2022. Successful companies will feature in the 2022, and 6th edition, of the hard copy booklet Catalogue, which will again be supplied to selected Defence Attaches across the globe as well as foreign embassies located in Canberra. These same successful companies will also feature in the mobile phone and web-based ADEO App. We anticipate this will be updated during the first quarter of 2022.

NOTE:
If your company is currently featuring in the 2021 Catalogue and you did not reapply for 2022 then your feature will be removed from the App when the 2022 update occurs in quarter 1 of next Calendar year. Submissions for 2023 will open mid-2022.
We hope you enjoy using the new App and we encourage you to provide feedback to this office so that we may enhance the App during the course of 2022, and beyond. We also encourage you to promote and share the App to your overseas contacts.
