Enabling Members to do Better Business in Defence

Hi Juanita,

The mental health of our workers is critical to our businesses. Mental ill-health costs Victorian manufacturing workplaces up to $20,000 per worker each year due to decreased productivity, high absenteeism, presenteeism and staff turnover.

COVID-19 has further negatively impacted our wellbeing and work performance due to increased stress. Today we are now more worried about our health, our loved ones, and our job security.

Earlier today you will have received an email from ADA-Vic and Katherine Post at RapidContext talking about The 4WM Project: Work, Worker, and Workplace Wellbeing in Manufacturing. The project is funded under WorkSafe Victoria's WorkWell Mental Health Improvement Fund. The Project focuses on the development of preventative measures that will foster greater psychosocial safety within workplaces.

The Mental Health Improvement Fund aims to promote health and wellbeing and prevent mental injury and illness by changing workplace cultures and practices. Projects funded under this program contribute to building the evidence base on how to create and maintain mentally healthy workplaces.

The 4WM Project will develop high quality resources, based on solid evidence and best practice research, for manufacturing workers and their employers to ensure the psychological safety and mental wellbeing of workers in the workplace.

Please take the time to read the email which contains the link to the report.

We are  here to help and advocate for our members. We would also like to hear from you if you have any news or stories about your business that may be of interest to other businesses and organisations.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Announcements
Australia US and UK stand together to confront global ransomware threat

Ransomware continues to be a global threat, and cybercriminals using ransomware pose a significant risk to Australian organisations and households.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), along with cyber security partners from the US and UK, has released an advisory calling out the increase in sophisticated, high impact ransomware attacks that we have seen directed at organisations in Australia and globally - including on our critical infrastructure.

The joint advisory from the ACSC, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), National Security Agency (NSA), and the United Kingdom’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC-UK), provides essential guidance for organisations and individuals to strengthen their defences against these critical ransomware threats.

The ACSC has published the Ransomware Attacks Prevention and Protection Guide on cyber.gov.au so all Australians can learn how to mitigate ransomware threats.

To report suspected ransomware, or any other cyber security incident, Australians and Australian organisations can contact ReportCyber 24/7 by email (asd.assist@defence.gov.au), or by calling the Australian Cyber Security Hotline on 1300 CYBER1 (1300 292 371).

The training is delivered through a series of webinars, online modules and one-to-one pitch practice sessions.

Australian Defence Industry businesses are encouraged to apply by registering their interest at the link below. Multiple people from the same business can be included as a single application. Limited spaces are available on each cohort and the ADEO will prioritise businesses who have recently participated in an industry delegation with TDA.
