Remembrance Day
November 11th
Hi there,

Yesterday, on the 11th November, ADA-Vic and its staff joined with Australians across the nation to acknowledge, honour and remember the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our country and those who have given their life in service to our nation on military and peacekeeping operations.

The 11th November 2021 is the 103rd anniversary of the signing of the Armistice between Allied forces and Germany on 11 November 1918, which ended the First World War.

As long as we remember the fallen and who they were, and the fact that they fought and died for Australia and the values we stand for, we will continue to face our future with the same courage and honour.

Announcements
Nuclear-Powered Submarine Task Force Established

On 16 September 2021, the Prime Minister of Australia, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the President of the United States of America, announced an enhanced trilateral security partnership between Australia, the UK and the US (AUKUS).

The first major initiative under AUKUS is Australia’s acquisition of at least eight nuclear-powered submarines. The Australian Government intends to build these submarines in Adelaide.

Australia, the UK and the US have committed to a comprehensive program of work over the next 18 months that will bring this capability into service. The optimal pathway to achieve this is through a significant increase in Australia-UK-US defence collaboration.

This period will be used to examine the full suite of requirements that underpin nuclear stewardship, with a specific focus on safety, design, construction, operation, maintenance, disposal, regulation, training, environmental protection, installations and infrastructure, basing, workforce and force structure.

The Government has established a Nuclear-Powered Submarine Task Force led by VADM Jonathan Mead AO to facilitate Australia’s role in AUKUS.

For more information about the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Task Force visit the website.

Assistance for SMEs Affected by the Cancellation of the Attack Class Submarine Contract

The Impacted SME Support Cell has been established within CDIC to support SMEs identify competitive opportunities, that leverages the time and effort they have made to increase their future competitiveness for the Attack Class program, but were yet to secure a contract with Naval Group or Lockheed Martin Australian.

CDIC's resources will be harnessed to assist SMEs to compete for future work either in the shipbuilding domain or more broadly with the increasing Defence programs that Government is investing in.

The support cell can be contacted on SME.support@defence.gov.au.
