Pitch to the Global Supply Chain Program Primes Event - Pitch your capability to the Defence Global Supply Chain Program (GSC) Primes.

During this networking event, you will have an opportunity to speak to each of the GSC Primes – Boeing, BAE, Thales, Northrup Grumman, Rheinmetall, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, or you will be able to leave your details with them for follow up opportunities. You should come prepared with a short elevator pitch and have done some research around the applicability of your capability to each prime. While each prime is interested in all competitive capabilities, the Prime ‘Capabilities Sought’ Posters will provide guidance on areas of interest. You will also hear about how the GSC Primes assist Australian Companies under the program.

The GSCP Prime teams are funded by Defence to advocate and find opportunity matches for Australian companies in their international business areas across civil and Defence, so come prepared and help them help you. More Info

Leidos Australia Launch Australia Partner Network

Leidos Australia are seeking expressions of interest from Australian industry, particularly small-to-medium enterprises, for current opportunities in maritime, airborne, health, intelligence, CBRN, C4ISR, AI/ML and cyber-security.

To make it easier for Australian businesses to partner with Leidos, they have launched their new Australian Partner Network (APN) portal which enables Australian companies to register interest for all future partnership opportunities with a simple, one-time expression of interest.

BAE Systems - US Contracting Masterclass

BAE Systems Australia are hosting a one-day workshop in Adelaide on Feb 13 for SMEs who currently, or wish to, do business in the US. They have partnered with US contracting specialists, Federal Publications Seminars to deliver a masterclass on US Contracting. This event is targeted to industry who are currently exporting or positioning to do business in the US, it will provide participants with a number of valuable insights to achieve success in the FAR/DFARS contracting regime, including but not limited to:

Overview of Regulatory Environment
Procurement Insight, including contract types and acquisition methods
Pricing
Accounting
Administration
Oversight, including audit requirements.

This event is free to attend and will be catered by BAE Systems.

In order to register for this masterclass, participants are required to register their interest via Eventbrite no later than 3rd February as spaces are limited.

Defence Exports Controls Outreach Event

Defence Export Controls (DEC) will be hosting a free outreach event in Melbourne on Monday 27 February 2023 (Industry), and Tuesday 28 February 2023 (Universities/Academia).

Outreach is aimed at industry, Universities and research institutions involved in the export, supply, publication or other movement of military and dual-use goods and technology. The program aims to raise awareness of Australian defence export control law by looking at what is required of exporters, what to expect when applying, and the export landscape. The event will involve presentations from representatives across the Australian Sanctions Office, Australian Border Force and ASIO.

This will be a hybrid event, with participants able to attend face to face or virtually. Whilst the event is free, please ensure you register using the links provided below.

A Reminder to Have Your Say in the Design & Implementation of the National Reconstruction Fund

In the 2022-23 October budget the government committed $15 billion to establish the National Reconstruction Fund (NRF).

The NRF will provide finance to projects in these priority areas to leverage Australia’s natural and competitive strengths:

medical science
transport
value-add in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors
value-add in resources
defence capability
enabling capabilities

The NRF will provide a range of finance options including:

loans
equity investment
guarantees

The NRF will be an independent financier that operates commercially to deliver a positive rate of return. It will be governed by a board who will make independent investment decisions guided by an investment mandate.

Consultation is now open on the design and implementation of the NRF and the government is keen to hear from:

industry
unions
communities
state and territory governments.

Team Defence Australia Expressions of Interest (EOI) are open for IMDEX Asia 2023, Changi, Singapore (03-05 May 2023), Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, Langkawi, Malaysia (23-27 May 2023) & SOF Week, Tampa, USA (08-11 May 2023). Interested companies can apply to attend by completing the EOI form by 11:59pm AEDT Tuesday, 07 February 2023 here.
Defence confirmed the acquisition of 40 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for the Australian Army. Delivery of the systems is scheduled to commence this year. See more here.

Australian Defence Export Office Pitch Training Program

The ADEO, in partnership with Marketing Entourage, have created a five week online pitch training program specifically for businesses looking to export defence and dual use goods and services. This training is fully subsidised for Australian Defence Industry businesses.

The program is specifically designed to improve the chances of success for Australian defence industry companies when engaging with opportunities to pitch their capabilities to foreign military and military suppliers. The training is delivered through a series of webinars, online modules and one-to-one pitch practice sessions.

Australian Defence Industry businesses are encouraged to apply by registering their interest at the link below. Multiple people from the same business can be included as a single application. Limited spaces are available on each cohort and the ADEO will prioritise businesses who have recently participated in an industry delegation with TDA.
